Join us for our comprehensive beginner course! Learn how to sew while exploring the world of fabric, commercial patterns, alterations, and classic sewing techniques.
You will leave this class with a cute skirt with a partial elastic waist, or a comfy pyjamas pants!
You will learn to:
- Operate a sewing machine.
- Sewing techniques (stay stitching, ease, darts, pleats, and more!)
- Properly press and iron garments for sewing
- Take proper measurements
- Identify and use various types of fabric, thread, and interfacing
- Select the right fabric for your project
- Work with commercial patterns (and pick the pattern that best compliments you!)
Students will need a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and complete homework (approximately 20 hours). EcoEquitable will supply the sewing machine for use in the class.
Oct 7 - Dec 9** This is a baby-friendly class. We want to congratulate Sophie Landriault on her new born baby! She will be bringing her baby to her classes; moms with their little ones are welcome into the class. (In order to keep our safety rules, babies must be in their strollers at all times)
