Repair-It-Yourself Series

Repair-It-Yourself Series

Regular price $45.00

Celebrate the first annual Circularity Month in Canada this October by joining Anne, our very own Communications and Impact Coordinator, in this exciting series on repair techniques! For all levels!

In this class, you will learn:

  • Basics hand-sewing techniques
  • How to replace a button
  • How to sew on a patch
  • How to extend the pockets of a garment
  • How to darn a hole of a knitwear item
  • Why repair is such an important component to a sustainable future, and why learning to do-it-ourselves is an empowering, cost-effective way to both keep the clothes we love and protest the fast-fashion industry.

All proceeds from EcoEquitable's public sewing and textile courses go towards our mission of empowering women with sewing skills and building connection and community; and supporting our local circular economy by redistributing fabric and sewing tools. We thank you for joining and supporting us!

Dates: Tuesdays, October 3 - 17 from 6-8PM

About your Instructor: Anne is a recent Carleton University graduate, and our new Communications and Impact Coordinator here at EcoEquitable. During her studies, Anne focused on migration, transnationalism, and sustainability. She participated in an internship at The Rediscovery Centre, Ireland’s centre for the Circular Economy where she conducted research on sustainable textiles. Anne has been involved in many local, environmental movements by doing sewing repairs at repair cafés, delegating against the 413 highway, and acting as the Director of Communications with the Women's Environmental Sustainability Network of Ottawa (WESNO).
