Graduate Sewists

Sara Zohairy, 2022 Graduate Sewist

Sara's sewing journey began with discontentment towards the lack of modest clothing that fit her taste within stores. She joined EcoEquitable's Sewing for Jobs Program as a student in the latter part of 2020 and returned 2 years later to complete the advanced level. Today, she is an instructor for the very same program that taught her years ago.

Favourite Memory at EcoEquitable:

Receiving a group email from almost everyone she knew at EcoEquitable checking in on her and her baby as she had given birth right after completing the intermediate level program of Sewing for Jobs. This warmed her heart and gave her the feeling of companionship as she was relatively new to Canada with most of her community still within her home country.

Favourite Sewing Projects:

Bags, skirts, etc.

Fun Fact:

She possess different degrees in 4 different fields.
