Julia Hunter, Executive Director

Julia is a values-driven leader who is passionate about organizational development, sustainability, and social impact. Since earning a bachelor degree in nutrition and dietietics from Acadia University, Julia has worked across diverse nonprofit sectors from health promotion and affordable housing to food security and environment during her time living in Vancouver, BC. She relocated to Ottawa in 2021. Julia is also a proud volunteer board member with The Period Purse, a national nonprofit dedicated to menstrual equity.

Julia is drawn to EcoEquitable's twofold mission and is especially passionate about developing innovative and meaningful ways to empower women and advance equity and inclusion. Being able to lead an organization into its next chapter is something that brings her great fulfillment, and she is ever grateful to the Eco community for their dedication and support (and for teaching her, slowly and patiently, how to sew).

In her spare time you would likely find Julia walking her rescue doggo Dutchy around the neighbourhood, running the Gatineau trails, reading a book (probably a trilogy) or writing poetry.
