Julia Hunter - Executive DirectorJulia in a circular frame.

Julia is a values-driven nonprofit leader who is passionate about organizational development, sustainability, and social impact. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietietics from Acadia University in Nova Scotia in 2015 and since then has worked as a dietitian across various nonprofit sectors including health promotion, affordable housing, food waste, and food security during her time living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Over the last 4 years, Julia has worked as an executive director in the non-profit space before relocating to Ottawa in 2021. Julia also proudly volunteers on the board of directors of Foodsharing Ottawa, a local food rescue organization.
Julia is drawn to EcoEquitable's twofold mission that intersects women's empowerment and environmentalism and is especially intrigued by the potential to develop innovative, mindful, and meaningful ways of supporting women and advancing equity and inclusion. Being able to lead an organization into its next chapter is something that brings her great fulfillment, and she is forever grateful to the Eco community for their dedication, passion, and support (and for teaching her, slowly and patiently, how to sew).
In her spare time you can find Julia writing, reading, running, or biking the Ottawa trails!
