Nina Squires, Board Director

Nina Squires grew up in New Brunswick. After attending Mount Allison University (Marketing/Biology) and Dalhousie University (Masters in Public Administration), she joined Parks Canada as a federal public servant. Since that time, she has worked across the country (in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories) before returning to Ottawa in 2018 with her young family. She currently works as a manager at Parks Canada, where she enjoys continuously learning about environmental sustainability, the management of natural heritage places, and the intersections between nature, culture, and society.

In Nina's personal time, she is often busy crafting (and collecting craft supplies like a squirrel hoards nuts). She works with ceramics, polymer clay, acrylic markers, and silk paints, and recently started exploring the world of fabric, sewing, and knitting. Nina's position on the EcoEquitable Board combines her interests in sustainability, her love of all things handmade, and her skills in strategic planning. As a proud resident of the Vanier neighbourhood, she is also happy to be making a difference in her local community - and being able to ride her bicycle to the EcoEquitable office!
