Sewing II: MAKING A SKIRT --- Day and Night classes

In this class, you will make a lined skirt with a facing, a kick pleat and zipper.

IN-CLASS PROJECT

In this course, you will learn how to make a lined skirt with waistband and zipper.

 

YOU WILL LEARN: 

  • intermediate sewing techniques
  • taking measurements to make a skirt
  • how to read sewing pattern instructions
  • how to use interfacing, and the different types of interfacing available
  • ways to finish seam edges, sew a kick pleat and install a centred zipper
  • how to hem your skirt and the garment lining

 

 

ECOEQUITABLE WILL PROVIDE:

Sewing equipment while you're in the classroom.

  • sewing machine
  • some tools and notions 

 

 

YOU NEED TO BRING:

A notebook for taking notes 

A basic sewing kit (Fabric scissors, measurement tape, pin cushion and pins, seam ripper)

Fabric and notions to work on your projects

 

MATERIALS

Materials are not included in the registration fee. A list of materials will be provided by your instructor before the first class and/or on the day of your first class.

Prerequisite:  No sewing experience is required.

Students are encouraged to have a domestic sewing machine, iron, and basic sewing kit at home to practice and/or complete their in-class projects.
